Mold Base Quality Control
※ Steel Quality Control
To ensure the steel quality, higher than 300mm steel will be forged. In this way, the steel will not have crack and inner holes. Also forging can make the steel have less inner stress, as the steel have tempered after forging.
※High Precision Machining
Mold base normally need below process for machining:

➜ Gun Drill
➜ Rough Machining
➜ Temper
➜ Fine Machining
How to ensure the precision of all pockets and holes?
After rough machining done, temper process will release the inner stress. The plates will not have more distortion. We will make all the guide and locating holes with the pockets together to ensure them have a same machining datum.
Of course high precision CNC is base requirement to ensure this. Please see our machining list.
A good machining process even is more important than machines. So we study customer’s mold base data, and analysis, then decide how to get a good quality mold base.
※Inspection
we know inspection is not a way to get the precise parts, but is a method to verify the quality. Our inspection go through whole process:

Steel Inspection
Before the steel upload on machine, we will check it.
Ultrasonic Examination
Then after the rough machining and temper done, we will check the hardness. Ensure it meet customer’s requirement.
Hardness Checking
During whole machining process, we will check it after each step done. In case the mistake leave to next station.
Inner Diameter Micrometer checking
Then after all machining done, we will check whole plate with CMM or arm scanning machine. The tolerance will be marked, and the result will show the difference.
The final checking also including the thread checking.
Normally we set the thread function depth is 2 times of the thread diameter. We will use Go-Nogo to check them.
For the cooling thread, we also will use the gauge to check them, ensure the depth is correct.
